At Damned Society, we believe that scream queens come from all walks of life, and different backgrounds. Alley Shiver is the perfect example of a Scream Queen whose living the life of gore to its fullest, without staring in countless flicks. With her unprecedented style and personality, Alley is enjoying her life as a alternative and fetish model - did we mention she has really kick ass hair?

DamnedSociety: I have to start off every interview on a happy note. So first of all, how are you doing as of right now alley?

Alley: HORRIBLE!! Just kidding :) I’ve been very busy between my four jobs: designing band merch, working as a makeup artist, go-go dancing and modeling.

DamnedSociety: I try my best to dig up some dirt on girls before I set up an interview. I couldn't find anything that pertained to acting. Ever worked in this field or have plans to?

Alley: I really suck at memorizing lines, and am even worse at emoting. The closest thing to acting I’ve done was extra work in the My Chemical Romance video for Desolation Row. I was portraying myself in the video, so I’m not sure if that would be considered acting! I’m usually working behind the scenes as a makeup-artist (for both beauty and SFX.)

DamnedSociety: Were you always interested in modeling? When was your first break?

Alley: I was never interested in modeling until I had my first photo-shoot, at which point I realized how much I loved creating beautiful, sexy, crazy, provocative images. My first break came a bit later in life; I was 21 (old for a model) and was approached by a photographer at a concert. I was completing an internship at the time for make-up and costume design, and decided that I could use my creative skills for modeling as well. We broke into an abandoned building in Hollywood for the shoot, and to this day some of my best pictures are from that first gig.

DamnedSociety: You've got one of the best styles Ive seen in a while, how long did it take for you to develop your look?

Alley: You can thank my mother; she dresses me like this every morning!

If only that were true! Really my look is always changing and evolving, it’s been a lifelong process. I’ve always viewed my outward appearance as a great channel for creativity and expression. I always got a lot of shit growing up about how I looked, and I think that only strengthened my style. I suppose the defining moment for me was when I went to college for fashion design and began to create my own clothing – at the point you’re kind of forced into literally creating your own style.

DamnedSociety: Where do you get your inspiration from? Who or what makes Alley tick?

Alley: Oh wow, there are SOOO many inspirations in this world. I would say my top six (in no particular order) would be:

1. Good music
2. Horror film and literature
3. The paranormal
4. Technology and it’s influence on art
5. Sex
6. Early Punk and Goth movements

DamnedSociety: When I first saw you, the first thing I thought was 'horror'. What is your association between horror and your style of modeling?

Alley: To me the words “horror” and “beauty” are often interchangeable. There was always something pleasing to me about the slimy, half-decayed flesh of zombies or the un-earthly paleness of the vampires I saw in horror movies growing up. One of my principle goals as a model has been to take what society considers evil, dark and horrible and show them that there is beautiful side to these themes. This later led me to pursue a career in special effects make-up, which I have often integrated into my photo-shoots. For a long time you would only see SFX makeup in horror films, and I like to bring that element into the world of photography.

DamnedSociety: What are your top 3 favorite horror flicks?

Alley: Only three?? That’s difficult. Probably the 1963 version of The Haunting directed by Robert Wise; it’s creepy and funny at the same time. The Hunger (1983) because you can’t beat a lesbian vampire flick; also Return Of The Living Dead. It’s a classic and has the BEST soundtrack of any horror movie, hands down.

DamnedSociety: Is their anything else that you would rather be doing, or WANT to do in the future?

Alley: There’s NOTHING else I’d rather be doing; but in the future I would love to hitchhike the entire 12,845 miles of Asian Highway 1.

DamnedSociety: What is something that you want to accomplish within the next year?

Alley: I would love to start a collection of infant’s coffins. They’re soooo cute!! Other than that, continue to develop my modeling and artistic skills.
